The SET Foundation
Supporting the young and needy
SET is by far the largest of our partner organizations. It was created by British Buddhist monk Phra Peter Pannapadipo in 1994. He disrobed in 2005 and now works full-time and voluntarily with SET. Currently CYF provides funds to help support more than 1,500 SET students every year. SET’s primary aim is to award long-term study scholarships and other financial support to disadvantaged Thai youngsters at government high schools, vocational colleges and universities.
Since 1994, SET has awarded nearly 8,000 scholarships. Many students were supported throughout their studies; up to 12 years in some cases. Thousands more have received cash grants to pay for uniform, books, bus fares, dormitory rent and other education-related expenses. SET awards scholarships at 12 main centers, most in and around Nakhon Sawan Province. SET is very cost-effective. In 2017, only 3% of total expenditure was for non-program costs and administration.

Over the years we have helped build thousands of better futures through scholarships provided by our partner organizations. Below are just a few of the success stories from one of our partners – The SET Foundation.
Wanpen Sompukdee
After completing my BWS in accounting from Banphot Phisai Vacational college in Nakon Sawan in 2014 i managed to find employment immediately at the Fort Corporation. The Fort Corporation telecommunications and electronic communications company. It was very nice to have a job so quickly after graduation. Thanks to the SET foundation and SLSF providing me with a scholarship i was able to study without having to take out a student load. This has allowed me to start my career without having to be concerned about paying back a student debt that would hinder me for a very long time. Thank you very much.
Narong Chatturat
Hello, my name is Narong. i received my first scholarship from the set foundation when I was studying the 3rd and 4th year of my Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree at Naresuan University.
After graduation with honors, I also was granted with a scholarship to study my masters degree at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. I am now currently working professor at the department of Microbiology, Faculty of medical science at Mahidol University in Phitsanulok.
Thank you to the set foundation for giving me a scholarship to that provided me with great opportunities, being able to study to a high level, securing a stable job and being able to attend conferences, presentations, and research abroad in the UK, Japan and Vietnam.
“Without your great support, I’ll not come this far”
I would like to express my sincerely thanks to all donors who contribute and continue to support the SET Foundation. I wish you and your family the very best health and great success!
Dtripob Songpong
I am another grateful student who managed to graduate because of the financial support i received from the SET Foundation throughout my studies. While studying my Certificate in Construction at the Nakhon Sawan Technical College, my families house was destroyed by flooding and left my family in financial hardship. After the SET foundation heard my story they immediately paid my tuition fees and provided continuing support throughout my education. This support allowed me to graduate and secure a job with the Chi-Thai construction company. Thank you to the SET Foundation for giving me this opportunity.
